As classy as they come, Hall of Fame inductee Curley Culp has invited arguably his youngest fan, Evan Young, to join him at the induction ceremony today. It all began when the York family, convinced by Evan, visited the Hall of Fame on March 12 for a visit just a year after having first toured the museum. It just so happened that the Culps were at the Hall of Fame that day for a meeting to prepare for Curley’s enshrinement. Evan was happily taking in the many exhibits, when he and his family were approached by Tammy Owens, the Hall of Fame’s executive assistant. She was leading Curley and Collette into the gallery. and approached Evan to let the young boy know that an actual Hall of Famer was visiting.
There will be many acceptance speeches. There will be many words of inspiration, of hope, of perseverance. But there will be none greater than the actions of Curley Culp and his fan Evan Young.
The spirit of the NFL is timeless. Curley Culp is described as one of the strongest men in the NFL. But today he displays proof that he is the kindest and classiest as well.
